Community Guidelines
Kohistan Journey publishes traveller contributions because a dated, honest first-hand account is worth more than any amount of generic description. These are the rules that keep it that way — and the ones that get a submission rejected.
Accuracy
Write what you saw, when you saw it. The most useful thing you can give another traveller is a dated, first-hand observation — not a summary of what you read elsewhere.
- Say when you travelled. A road condition without a date is not information, it is a guess.
- Describe your own experience rather than restating general facts about a place.
- If you are unsure about a detail — a fee, a distance, an opening time — say you are unsure rather than rounding it into a confident number.
- Do not copy text, itineraries or descriptions from other websites, guidebooks or operators.
Safety and privacy
Anything published here is public and permanent from your point of view. Treat it that way, and protect other people as carefully as you protect yourself.
- Do not post exact addresses, house locations, GPS pins of private property, or live location information.
- Do not post phone numbers or WhatsApp numbers — yours or anyone else's. Submissions containing them are rejected automatically.
- Do not name or photograph private individuals in a way that identifies them without their agreement — this especially applies to children.
- Do not post identity documents, permits, tickets or booking references, even partially redacted.
- Do not describe a route in a way that would encourage someone unprepared to attempt it. Say what it actually took.
Respect
Northern Pakistan is somewhere people live, not a backdrop. Most of what makes a place worth visiting is the people already there.
- No harassment, abuse, or content targeting a person, community, ethnicity, religion or gender.
- Criticise a service — a hotel, a driver, an operator — on what happened to you, factually, without naming individual staff.
- Do not publish photographs of people, especially women and children, taken without their knowledge.
- Write about local customs the way you would want your own home described to strangers.
Verification
Everything you submit is published as a traveller report, not as Kohistan Journey information. That distinction is permanent and is shown on every page your content appears on.
- All submissions start as needs-verification and stay that way unless someone at Kohistan Journey independently confirms them.
- Your observations are never merged into a destination's or trek's official information. They appear alongside it, labelled and dated.
- A name on a contribution is a credit, not a verified identity. There are no accounts yet, so nobody here is a confirmed user.
- Nothing you submit appears publicly until it has been reviewed. Expect a delay, not an instant post.
Prohibited content
Submissions containing any of the following are rejected without further review.
- Promotional content, affiliate links, or listings for a tour company, hotel or transport service.
- Phone numbers, WhatsApp links, or any direct contact detail other than the contact options offered in the form.
- Fabricated trips, invented conditions, or reports of emergencies, closures or accidents you did not personally witness.
- Photographs you do not hold the rights to, including images taken from other websites or social accounts.
- Political campaigning, religious proselytising, or content unrelated to travel in Pakistan.
- Requests for money, donations, crowdfunding, or fundraising of any kind.
How review works
Every submission arrives as submitted, moves to under review, and is then either published or rejected. Only published records are ever shown on the site.
Nothing you submit can set its own status, mark itself verified, or publish directly. That is enforced on the server, not in the form.
