About Fort Munro
Fort Munro exists for one reason: it is high enough to be cooler than the plain below it, which in southern Punjab in summer is reason enough. It was established as a colonial-era retreat and is still a modest place — a scatter of buildings, a lake, viewpoints over the Sulaiman ridges — rather than a developed resort town. What it offers is the drive up, the temperature drop, and long views across dry folded country that looks nothing like the rest of the province. Facilities are limited, and the mountain road is the part of any trip here that most warrants checking before setting out.
It is high enough to be cooler than the plain below it, which in southern Punjab in summer is reason enough.
