The walled old city of Peshawar — Qissa Khwani Bazaar, the Sethi houses and Mahabat Khan Mosque.
Anything we haven't confirmed is labelled clearly rather than guessed at.
The old city is not a preserved quarter but a working one. Qissa Khwani — the storytellers' bazaar, named for the caravan traders who once broke their journeys here — is still a commercial street, and the carved wooden balconies above the shopfronts belong to buildings people occupy. The Sethi houses show what nineteenth-century merchant wealth built, Mahabat Khan Mosque anchors the Mughal-era fabric, and Gor Khatri occupies ground that has been in use for a very long time. It rewards walking slowly and asking before photographing, in what remains a conservative city.
